TOC Cassetted!

It was cloudy. Then it drizzled. Then it rained. And rained. And rained some more.

Still, a good number of people showed up at Post Museum for The Online Citizen’s Not A (Public) Political Party, enjoyed the food and had good fun. There were party games and music, (lots of) food, drinks and – best of all – great company.

I didn’t bring my camera because I was already having to transport 3 cartons of soft drinks, 1 carton of beer, half a crate of bottled beer, a chocolate cake, T-shirts, badges, wristbands, an A0 poster, 3 A2 posters, 2 boxes of name cards, napkins, party plates, forks, spoons, knives, peanuts, etc. (thank you Mum for driving me!) So I could only use my BlackBerry to take some photos.

AWESOME cupcakes done by Hannah, baker extraordinaire. I obsessed over the TOC Cassetted sugar pieces ALL NIGHT LONG, dragging all manners of long-suffering friends and acquaintances to the box and standing by as they made admiring noises.

It was so great to see all the support that we were getting, financially or otherwise. It makes all the hard work, long hours and early-morning/late-night/all times of the day emailing and phoning all worth it, and it gives me hope for my country.

Yes, there will be people who might say that we’ll “never win”, but I guess that depends on how you definite “winning”. Do you only “win” when the government is completely changed? Or can every little step forward be seen as a victory too?

For me, the fact that there are people like my friends at TOC who care and who are willing to give their time, skills and energy to do something about the problems they see around them, is already a “win” for Singapore. And as long as we don’t give up, I’m sure there will be many more “wins” coming our way. After all, something’s gotta give.
